This route is a medium length route which covers Carn Ghluasaid, Sgurr nan Conbhairean & Sail Chaorainn which lie at the eastern end of a long chain of munros to the north of Glen Shiel. This is quite a moderate route with steep grassy slopes and rocky ridges on the northern side of Glen Shiel high above Loch Cluanie.

This is a very quite area of the highlands and you'll be lucky if you see a soul on these hills even if other cars are parked at the starting point.

This route covers two munros Beinn Fhada & A'Ghlas-bheinn which sit on the western end of Glen Affric and offer a tough days outing.

On a good day there are excellent views over the hills of west Benula, the Five Sisters of Kintails & the northern section of the north Shiel ridge.

The 3 munros Mam Sodhail, Cairn Eige & Beinn Fhionnlaidh on this route lie deep in a wilderness between Loch Mullardoch & Loch Affric and offer a very strenuous but rewarding day on the hills. They are far from any roads and prized munros to bagged like The Fisherfield Six which is quite an achievement. Apart from the shear distance on this circuit the long ridge to Beinn Fhionnlaidh has to be reversed once you've climbed this distant munro and there's a lot of height gained doing this.

Mullach na Dheiragain, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan & An Socach is part of a groups of hills which are one of the remote in the Highlands. All approaches are very long including this one and most parties climbing these hills will need to spend a night camping or in the Glen Affric Youth Hostel where the path starts.

If cycling on the approach to Alltbeithe (which is possible) be warned it's very rough in places and also steep.

A'Chralaig and Mullach Fraoch-choire are 2 munros that are at the western end of Loch Cluanie north of Glen Shiel. This is a good route over a broad ridge taking in the highest of the munros bordering the main road to Skye which is A'Chralaig.

The Five Sisters of Kintail is a justifiably popular route taking in 3 western munros in this group of mountains to the north of Glen Shiel. This route is similar in character as South Glen Shiel Ridge although the peaks are somewhat rockier and the ridges slightly narrower.

This routes start & finish points are approximately 11km apart and the use of a bike will obviate the need for a long route. Alternativly a bus comes up the A87 road from Shiel Bridge in the morning.
