Stob Ghabhar is a large munro which sits on the south western edge of Rannoch Moor and is a familiar sight to the motorists on the A82 road. The summit stands near the edge of precipitous cliffs at the head of its great east-facing corrie which hang over Coirein Lochain below. The mountains eastern corries formed by the headwaters of the River Ba look impressive from this direction as does the neighbouring mountain of Stob a'Choire Odhair with which Stob Ghabhar is usually climbed with. Stob a'Choire Odhair is linked to Stob Ghabhar via a twisting ridge called Sron na Giubhas on the east by a bealach at 668 metres.
Access is usually from the bealach on the ridge to the east connecting to Stob a'Choire Odhair and a scramble over east south east ridge, Anonach Eagach.
