Mountain Description for Carn Mairg
Carn Mairg lies on the eastern section of a collection of hills arcing around the northern side of Invervar know as the Cairn Mairg group or "Glen Lyon Horseshoe". Although this groups of hills might be likened to The Cairngorms because of their flat summits thay lack the height & grandeur of the Cairngorms. Carn Mairg is the highest Munro on the northern side of Glen Lyon.
The summit of Carn Mairg is marked with a large cairn and is rocky and craggy with steep slopes on the western and southern sides. To the east lies the munro Meall na Aighean linked via a broad col between Meall Liath and Carn Mairg with quite easy southern slopes. On the north west the munro Meall Garbh is accessed via the top Meall a' Bharr.
Usual access to Carn Mairg is quite strict as the land owners require you to complete the Glen Lyon Horseshoe route from west - east so not to disturb dear management.
