Mountain Description for Carn Dearg
Carn Dearg rises to the east of Loch Ossian and to the west of Loch Ericht with the summit being marked with quite a large cairn. It's generally a rounded massif with little distinguishing features with the western side being of gentle incline and the easter flanks being quite steep and craggy. The munro Sgor Gaibhre is connected on the north east by a broad bealach called Mam Ban, and is generally climbed on the same days outing. Along with Sgor Gaibhre, Carn Dearg it forms a number of open corries which a known to house some of the largest herds of red deer in the Highlands.
The normal ascent of Carn Dearg from Corrour is via the grassy slopes up the north western ridge.
On a clear day expect good views across the large expanse of Rannoch Moor to the south
